  • The University of Mines is Russia’s oldest
    higher education school devoted
    to engineering. It was founded
    on October 21 OS (November 1 NS) 1773
    by Empress Catherine II. Thus the brainchild
    of Peter the Great and Mikhail Lomonosov
    to train Russian specialists
    for mining was materialized.

  • The University has excellent
    research facilities and well-equipped
    laboratories for studying advanced
    mining and processing technologies,
    the use of mineral resources,
    and the development
    of country resource portfolios.


  • The University of Mines in Saint-Petersburg
    is one of the exemplary higher
    education institutions in Russia.

St. Petersburg Mining University has taken the 16th place in the area "Engineering - Mineral and Mining"   by the assessment results of the authoritative international ranking agency QS World University Rankings (Great Britain). The University has also been included in the TOP-20 world best technical universities.
