The Rector of the Mining University Vladimir Litvinenko and the President of “Schneider Electric” Jean-Pascal Tricoire agreed on the procedure and date of the opening of joint Center of competence in research and education. The new institution will start to work in June 28.

The agreements were reached during a working meeting of Vladimir Litvinenko and a delegation of the French company - a recognized world leader in the field of automation and energy management. In addition to Mr. Tricoire there were experts coordinating the project, including Johan Vanderplaetse, the new President of "Schneider Electric" in Russia and the CIS. The guests arrived to assess the progress of reconstruction of the premises, where the Centre of competence will be opened soon, and to discuss the prospects for further cooperation.

During the negotiations with the Rector of the University, the parties noted that the University and Schneider Electric have been partners for more than 10 years. However, after the opening of the competence Center their interaction must move to a totally new level. In the new laboratories it is planned to conduct joint research in the field of energy and automation of technological processes, electrical equipment, energy efficiency and energy management.

"One of our priorities is integration of Russian professionals into the world professional community, - said Vladimir Litvinenko, the Rector of the Mining University. It could be possible through the implementation of such projects as new competence Center. Its opening will improve the quality of students education, raise the level of professional training of teachers and specialists of oil and gas and mining companies who attend the refresher courses in our University".

The competence Center will be established on the basis of two departments of the Mining University: the department of automation of technological processes and production and the department of electric power engineering and electromechanics. Their laboratories will be equipped with the latest industrial technical and software of automation of Schneider Electric, special software and network technologies.

"This is a very important project - said the President of the company "Schneider Electric Jean-Pascal Tricoire. – Not only undergraduate and graduate students of the Mining University will be training in the Centre, but also there will be  professional retraining and advanced training for specialists of oil and gas, mining and metallurgical industries, as well as research activities. We expect that collaboration with the Mining University will be mutually beneficial and we hope to develop our cooperation in the future.
