The XVIII International Coal Preparation Congress has come to the end. The main goal of the congress is to assess prospects of innovative production due to coal conversion and also development of the business strategy directed to increase industry performance.

The delegates have noted that coal continues to play an important role in the world economy and takes the second place after oil in structure of the global energy consumption. Nevertheless, its share in fuel and energy balance is reduced. This tendency has all characteristics of a long-term trend.

The only possible way of industry development is to create sophisticated technologies of coal conversion allowing to produce new environmentally friendly products. Such opinion was unanimously expressed by all delegates arrived to St. Petersburg. For example, fuel suspension is the suspension capable to replace traditional hydrocarbons in life support systems of civilized countries belongs to such projects of mass implementation which was discussed at the forum.

The congress meetings have been divided into sections according to the main processes of coal preparation and processing. Their topics were "Resources of the Coal Industry", "Coal Preparation Plants Design", "Gravity Concentration Methods", "Flotation", " Coal Deep Processing Technologies", "Dehydration, Drying and Briquetting of Coal", "Use of Quality Control, Automation and Computer Technologies in Coal Preparation", "Crushing, Grinding, Screening and Sizing Specification", "Research, Processing and Preparation of Coal Slimes", "Dry Separation of Coal", "Environment protection".

The reports were made by leading experts and scientists practically from all profile universities and research institutes of the main coal-mining countries of the world, heads of the companies working in the field of coal preparation and conversion, designing of concentrating plants, systems of automation. They were representatives from 25 countries of the world - Germany, the USA, China, India, Australia, the Republic of South Africa and the others. There were 160 delivered reports at the meetings in total. their general level is recognized as very high.

For the first time for all history of the ICPC the youth section has been organized. The young scientists exempted from the registration fee and accommodation payment delivered 34 reports. Within the forum also there was the round table devoted to legislative and standard providing system of professional and public accreditation programs of advanced training and professional training of engineering personnel.

According to the opinion of the guests, "topics of discussions have been chosen according to the spirit of the age, the exchange of opinions allowed to get a lot of useful information, and the organization of the congress in general has been carried out at the highest level". "The Mining University is a great platform for carrying out the congress," Mrs. Gulhan Ozbayoglu noted, the dean of engineering faculty of university Atilim (Ankara, Turkey). "There are excellent conference systems which provide a possibility of simultaneous interpretation, big convenient halls meeting all modern requirements. Thanks to effective work of its organization, delegates could concentrate on discussion of such topical issues as producing environment friendly products created due to coal conversion, development of coal gasification technology, waste recycling".

The forum closing ceremony and delegating authority to the Indian Republic for carrying out the XIX International Coal Preparation Congress was held in Multifunctional Complex "Gorniy". While passing the baton to New – Delhi, the rector Vladimir Litvinenko noted that this status event would have to receive new, more precise title. "It has to be called Coal Deep Processing Congress," Vladimir Litvinenko emphasized.

"Currently India is known as the country of IT technologies, the developed industry and, of course, coal deposits. The congress, which will be held in our country in 2019, has to become the milestone in connection of these three components. And one more thing! After having visited the Mining University I have understood how it is actually necessary to hold such events. There is much to learn from the Russian miners," Mr. Raj Kumar Sachdev the Chairman of the XIX ICPC said in the end.
